What we store and why

• Your account: colonist name, your password (only as a salted hash, never readable), tribe, when you signed up and when you were last online. If you give an email address: the address and whether it is confirmed.
• Your game: colonies, troops, build jobs, reports, messages to other players, alliance posts, rankings, badges, map marks and farm lists. Other players can see your name, points, alliance, colonies on the map, your profile text and badges.
• Technical data: when you connect, your IP address is processed to deliver the page and to stop abuse (for example too many requests or sign-ups). It is kept in memory only for a short time. To find several accounts on one device (the game does not allow them to trade with each other), we store a random device ID from a cookie and a salted, shortened hash of your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored with your account. alwaysdata may keep server logs.

Legal bases (Art. 6 GDPR): running the game for you (para. 1 b) and our interest in a secure and fair game (para. 1 f).

Cookies and similar

MarsL only uses what it needs to work: a login cookie, a device cookie (see above) and small settings in your browser (sound, alerts, sort order, farm lists). There is no tracking, no advertising and no analytics. Fonts are served from this server, nothing is loaded from other companies. The Discord button is a normal link: Discord's own privacy policy applies once you click it.

Who gets your data

• alwaysdata, which hosts the game (processor).
• Brevo, which sends confirmation and password reset emails (processor). Only your email address and the mail text go there.

We do not sell data and do not pass it on otherwise.

How long

Until you delete your account. A new round resets the game but keeps accounts. Results of finished rounds stay in the Hall of Fame; deleting your account replaces your name there with “Deleted player”.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, restriction, a copy of your data and object to the processing. You can delete your account yourself at any time in the game: Settings → Delete account. Everything that belongs to it is removed. Questions: see the contact above. You can also complain to a data protection authority.
